Sony Pictures has announced the production of the third film in the Venom franchise with Tom Hardy.
Sony Pictures has announced the production of the third film in the Venom franchise with Tom Hardy after the box office success of the previous installments. According to Variety, 2021’s Venom 2 grossed $502 million worldwide.
Sony Pictures held a presentation at CinemaCon 2022 in Las Vegas and announced the production of Venom 3 and Ghostbusters 4.
As of now, no out dates have been given for either of these films, and there have been no announcements regarding the cast or crew. But, of course, nothing is surprising in the fact that Tom Hardy, who plays the role of Eddie Brock in the film adaptation of Marvel comics, will return for the third part of Venom.
Recall that the franchise “Ghostbusters” has been around for quite a long time and enjoys relative success with the audience. Still, the success of projects about an alien parasite that has moved into an earthly journalist was a pleasant surprise for Sony. The franchise has become hugely popular over the past few years, despite the backlash from professional film critics for the first Venom back in 2018.
“The critical reaction, I’m not going to lie, is a bummer because you’ve been working so hard on something. But I know after watching it with the audience how much they loved it. So it was a little surprising to me how negative the reviews were. And I really think that this is unreasonable because the audience really liked the film, “Ruben Fleischer said earlier, the director of the first series.
The studio also revealed plans for another Ghostbusters installment, a sequel to the 2021 reboot Ghostbusters: Descendants. Yet, there are no segments yet on the upcoming production and release dates.
The information was given in the form of a mashup video, which included footage I Want to Dance with Someone from the Whitney Houston biopic and small cuts from other projects. During the video screening, Sony director Tom Rothman said that the studio “has filmed for any audience.”
Hardy plays journalist Eddie Brock and his unwitting partner, the parasite Venom in Venom. The last time the actor appeared as his character was during the credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
