Salma Hayek to replace Thandie Newton in Magic Mike sequel - yuetu.info

Academy Award nominee Salma Hayek has joined the cast of Channing Tatum’s new film, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, replacing previously confirmed female lead Thandie Newton.

“Thandie Newton has made the difficult decision to withdraw from Warner Bros. Pictures’ Super Mike’s Last Dance for family reasons,” a studio spokesperson said.

Recall that the third part of the dramatic comedy is filmed exclusively for the HBO Max channel. Reed Carolyn, who wrote the first two films, is returning to work on a sequel, as is Steven Soderbergh, who directed the original movie in 2012.

The third installment, which has just begun production in the UK, is expected to complete the trilogy. Magic Mike XXL director Gregory Jacobs is producing along with Caroline, Nick Wexler, and Peter Kiernan.

In an interview in February, Tatum and Carolyn hinted that the female lead would be crucial to the plot of the sequel. “It’s actually a story about a woman who gets stuck in a terrible strip show and then realizes, ‘What the hell am I doing here?'” Carolyn explained. “And then Magic Mike comes down from the ceiling.

She dives down the rabbit hole and asks: “What do I really want?”. Tatum added that the character is “powerful, almost like Mike… we’ve never shown a traditional love story, and this one will be no exception.”
