Finally, Paramount Pictures has shown the latest trailer for Top Gun: Maverick, the belated sequel that returns us to Tom Cruise flying high. Unfortunately, however, Maverick (Cruise) is no longer active, and in principle, he must settle for being a test captain and preceptor for the new batch of pilots that will take to the skies.
Like any good sequel/reboot worth its salt, the return of Jerry Maguire’s actor will not be the only one. In addition, Val Kilmer will be back in his role as the Iceman, though you might miss his appearance in the trailer if you blink. However, the most special connection that Maverick will have will be with the son of his late partner “Goose, Nick, played by the interpreter Miles Teller. This, the protagonist, will be presented as such, something that will force him to face his unstable past and his “plunging dread” of him, something that the authorized synopsis itself already suggests.
After more than thirty years of service, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise), as one of the best pilots in the Navy, is where he belongs, a test pilot who dodges the promotion that would leave him with his feet in the dark Land. When one day he sees himself preparing a new detachment of pilots for a very dangerous mission, Maverick finds himself face to face with Lieutenant Bradley Bradshaw, son of Maverick’s late friend who died in the first tape. Confronted with putting him in harm’s way, the mission requires the supreme sacrifice.”
It was something that the previous material that the producer had provided us with a drop count had already been warning about. Still, this new trailer clears up any doubts: The level of the action scenes will be very realistic.
Top Gun: Maverick is executed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously teamed with Cruise on Oblivion’s sci-fi film. The belated sequel fills up with familiar faces for this frenetic new adventure: Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Charles Parnell, Jean Louisa Kelly, Jennifer Connelly, Manny Jacinto, Raymond Lee, Danny Ramirez, Bashir Salahuddin, Jay Ellis, Lewis Pullman, Jake Picking, and Ed Haris. The new script is in charge of Ehren Kruger, Christopher Mc Quarrie, and Eric Warren Singer. The film will hit cinemas on May 27 if Paramount does not delay its programming again.
