Mariah Carey was celebrating the 12th year anniversary since the release of one of her biggest hit songs – Obsessed – and she took this opportunity to throw some shade at none other than rapper Eminem! Check out what the pop diva had to say!
That’s right, it’s been a decade and then some since the release of Obsessed, a song that not only shook the charts at the time but also shook many fans who were convinced the lyrics were directed at Eminem and his supposed obsession with Mariah Carey!
In honor of the track’s twelfth birthday, Mariah used it as background music for her own take on the Wipe It Down challenge on TikTok!
The clip shows Mariah transitioning from dressed down to all glammed up and there is even a cameo from the rapper.
Well, not really – just the singer crossdressed into one of Eminem’s supposed personas from the music video.
In the caption, the talented singer made sure to mention that there was no ill will on her part, making the TikTok ‘Just for laughs.’
She added: ‘From last year’s lockdown when all I did was wipe tings down. #HappyAnniversaryObsessed.’
While she may have done this for fun and nothing else, back in 2009 and even many years to follow, the feud with Eminem was quite serious!
In fact, there were swipes on this topic as recently as 2019 and involved the rapper and Mariah’s ex-husband, Nick Cannon, the latter of whom stood by her while dragging Eminem.
It all started in 2001 when Eminem claimed to having dated Mariah for around six months.
However, the singer denied it, insisting that was not the case at all.

What followed was the rapper releasing several diss tracks directed at Mariah.
It all went on until 2009 when Mariah dropped Obsessed which fans were convinced was about Eminem since the music video features the songstress in a pair of grey sweats, hoodie and even with a fake goatee, seemingly impersonating the rapper.
