Joe Rogan now insists he is not an anti-vaxxer after previously encouraging young and healthy people not to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus on his podcast. As you can imagine, many were outraged by such a harmful discourse, especially since Rogan’s podcast is the most popular on Spotify, therefore reaching so many.
This comes after he insisted that young people should not worry about the vaccine at all.
In the aftermath of the backlash and after some even demanded for him to get fired, Rogan argued that ‘I’m not a doctor, I’m a f***ing moron. I am not a respected source of information, even for me…But at least I try to be honest about what I am saying. I am not an anti-vax person. In fact I said, I believe they are safe and encourage many to take them. My parents got vaccinated. I just said, ‘I do not think that if you are a young healthy person, you really need it.’ Their argument was just ‘You need it for other people’…but that is a different argument.’
The man defended his stance, even though it’s safe to say that most of his critics will not be happy with that explanation.
After all, the COVID-19 pandemic has always been about the individual as much as about everyone else since it’s contagious.
As for his previous comment, he said in part that ‘If you are like 21 and like, ‘Should I get vaccinated?’ I go, ‘No. Are you a healthy person?”
This is especially harmful since the NPR reports that the hospitalization of young adults testing positive for the virus is up 40% since March!
‘Look, do not do anything stupid, but you should really take care of yourself. If you are a healthy person, and you are exercising all the time, and you are young, you’re eating well, I don’t think you need to worry about this,’ Rogan stated during his previous podcast episode.
