Kelly Clarkson Says Other Celebrities Were Mean To Her Following American Idol Success - Except For Jennifer Love Hewitt -

For celebrities and A-listers, it may seem like it’s all sunshine and rainbows, but fame, notoriety, and money can often lead to unexpected problems. Page Six says Kelly Clarkson, for example, was one such person who encountered a lot of challenges when she first became famous following her American Idol stint in the early 2000s.

During Thursday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly thanked Jennifer Love Hewitt for being nice to her when she was on American Idol in 2002. Clarkson said to the actress that she probably wouldn’t remember it, but Love Hewitt was one of the nicest people she had met amid her rise to celebrity status.

Clarkson explained how she was at the VMAs during one of the final episodes of American Idol when Jennifer ran up to her and had a really nice thing to say to her, despite the fact everyone else was being so mean because they were part of a talent show reality series.

Clarkson says that amid all of the terrible experiences and encounters she had on the red carpet that evening, Jennifer was one of the few who ran up to her and claimed she was rooting for her.

According to Kelly, Love-Hewitt told her the “business” could be hard at times, urging Clarkson to keep her loved ones close.

Clarkson went on to say that Jennifer’s comments at the time were so meaningful, and precisely what she needed to hear at that time in her career. “It meant the world to me, you were so nice,” Clarkson said to the actress.

This wouldn’t be the first time Clarkson has spoken candidly about the perils of fame. Back in June, she spoke with Demi Lovato – who has had her own problems with being famous – about how being in the public eye wasn’t always easy.

Clarkson told the pop singer that being in the spotlight was challenging at times because it seems like there are “arrows being aimed at you” in perpetuity. The reality star went on to say that it only gets worse if you give the “trolls” ammunition.
