Not long after his debut mixtape, Artist, went platinum, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie went on his Instagram to reflect on his achievement. Even though the artist doesn’t necessarily come to mind when considering commercial success, he has still done very well for himself.

The New York artist recently secured a grand total of thirty-six platinum plaques, including one for his 2016 debut mixtape, Artist. Obviously, his awards meant a lot to him, so he took to his Instagram to reflect on his achievement.

Earlier this year, another artist was in the headlines after reaching platinum status, Lil’ Tecca. Lil’ Tecca found himself at the top of news outlets because he nearly went platinum without including a single feature, which is a designation that is normally associated with J. Cole.

According to Hot New Hip Hop, J. Cole is one of the rare cases who can go platinum by releasing a record without having any features on it all. Hip hop fans know it’s incredibly common for rappers to call on the talents of other artists as a way of generating hype and clout.

The more famous the individuals are on the track, the more likely it is to get views, streams, and sales. For instance, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion dropped a new song together this year called, “WAP,” which featured a cameo from the Queen of Instagram, Kylie Jenner.

Regardless of the general trends in hip-hop, sources close to A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie claimed the rapper is incredibly happy with the success he has seen over the last few years. As he explained in his IG post, he was just a nobody from the Bronx, and it’s been an incredible journey to make it where he is today.

As for Lil’ Tecca, on the other hand, fans are wondering if he’ll be able to release a new project which compares to the success of his breakout song, “Ransom,” which went viral not long after it came out.
