Tess Holliday has taken the fashion industry by storm. She is no stranger for speaking up for herself and other plus-sized women and this time is no different.

The model wore a $50 strawberry dressed designed by Meaghan O’Connor earlier this year. The cute and playful gown landed her on some of the most popular ‘worst dressed’ lists.

Now, the dress has blown up on social media app Tik Tok. The only difference is — the women sporting the piece are much thinner.

It’s not so much that the fashion piece has become popular that bothers Tess but its the fact that the dress is being praised by some of the same media outlets who disliked when she wore it. She took to Instagram to call out the blatant sizeism.

I like how this dress had me on worst dressed lists when I wore it in January to the Grammys, but now bc a bunch of skinny ppl wore it on TikTok everyone cares. 🤷🏻‍♀️ To sum it up: our society hates fat people, especially when we are winning. Thank you @lirika.matoshi & @meaghanpoconnor for making me feel like a princess 7 months ago.’

She also spoke to People Magazine about the situation where she didn’t mince words.

‘I knew instantly the reason why the dress was getting so much attention seven months later. And that’s because it was popularized by people that are deemed beautiful by society standards, in a body type that’s deemed acceptable.’

She also explained how the piece came into fruition.

‘I actually never thought that she would respond to my message or want to dress someone that’s as fat as me. Not because of anything about her, just from my own personal experiences trying to get designers to dress me.’

She went on to say that it was the prettiest she’s ever felt on a red carpet.

Tess isn’t the only celebrity to speak out about having trouble getting designers to dress her; Leslie Jones and Chrissy Metz have encountered the same issues.
