Family members, friends, and fans continue to mourn the loss of Glee star Naya Rivera, including both her ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, and close friend, Heather Morris. This week, Morris posted an emotional tribute to her on-screen girlfriend and real life bestie that featured pictures of their sons.

Morris explained in the lengthy caption that she and Rivera “never took photos together” because they “mutually hated taking pictures.” Instead, the 33-year-old posted pictures of her sons Elijah, 6, and Owen, 4, playing with Rivera’s four-year-old son, Josey. She explained that this was her way to remember their “pride and joy.”

We started out as the closest friends and then like all new things, we went through a bit of a rocky phase. However, we stuck by each other’s side and created the most beautiful friendship built out of love and understanding. The last I had the chance to see you in person, I had left oranges outside our home for you to take. I wanted to say hi through the window but my phone didn’t ring when you called (which it never does, f*cking T-Mobile), so instead you and Josey left two succulents on our doorstep as a thank you. I planted those succulents and I look at them everyday and think of you. I still listen to your EP on repeat because from the moment I heard it, it struck me and I always wished the world knew more of your voice. You sent me over 5 dozen SnapChat videos when you and Josey woke up in the morning and I kick myself that I didn’t save one of them. You always shared recipes and I admired your love for food. We vowed to spend every Easter together, even though Covid stole this last one from us. You are and always will be the strongest and most resilient human being I know, and I vowed to carry that with me as I continue to live my life. You constantly taught me lessons about grief, about beauty and poise, about being strong, resilient and about not giving a fuck (but still somehow respectful ). Yet, the utmost important lesson I learned most of all from you was being a consistent and loving friend. You were the first to check in, the first to ask questions, the first to listen..you cherished our friendship and I never took that for granted. We never took photos together because we mutually hated taking pictures…our relationship meant more than proof. I have countless pictures of our babies playing, because we shared that kind of pride and joy. So I’m showing the world a photo of our little goof balls for you, because I know that meant more than anything and they remind me of you and I. I speak to you everyday because I know you’re still with me and even though I’m feeling greedy that we don’t get more time together, I cherish every moment we had and hold it close to my heart.

“We started out as the closest friends and then like all new things, we went through a bit of a rocky phase. However, we stuck by each other’s side and created the most beautiful friendship built out of love and understanding,” Morris began her post.

Morris reminisced about the last time she had the chance to see Rivera in person. She revealed that she listens to her late friend’s EP on repeat because from the moment she heard it, it struck her and she has always wished the world knew more of Rivera’s voice.

“You sent me over 5 dozen SnapChat videos when you and Josey woke up in the morning and I kick myself that I didn’t save one of them. You always shared recipes and I admired your love for food,” continued Morris, who played Brittany Pierce alongside Rivera’s Santana Lopez for six seasons..

The mom-of-two added: “I speak to you everyday because I know you’re still with me and even though I’m feeling greedy that we don’t get more time together, I cherish every moment we had and hold it close to my heart.”

Meanwhile, an insider told People magazine that Dorsey “has barely slept” since Rivera went missing on Wednesday, July 8. Authorities discovered her body in Lake Piru five days later after the actress drowned during a boating trip with her son.

“It’s just a nightmare. Although he wasn’t with Naya, it’s Josey’s mom. Josey needs his mom,” explained the source. “Ryan can’t imagine raising Josey without Naya. It’s the most devastating situation.”

Ryan Dorsey and Naya Rivera were married from 2014 to 2018. Dorsey reunited with Josey hours after the four-year-old was found alone on a pontoon boat. Authorities have said that the boy is “in good health.” They also believe that Rivera died while saving her son.

Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said that Josey told them he and Naya went swimming in the lake, and at one point she helped him get back into the boat. She reportedly “boosted him onto the deck from behind.”

He also told investigators that when he looked back he saw his mom “disappear under the surface of the water.”

“The idea perhaps being that the boat started drifting, it was unanchored, and that she mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself,” Ayub said.
