The singer went through serious abuse when she was only a child and now, many years later, she decided to confront that woman that did that to her. As it turns out, Jessica Simpson took this decision because she felt like she needed to speak up about it.
With that being said, you might know that at the beginning of this year, Jessica Simpson got candid about what happened to her for the very first time by opening up about it in her tell-all, appropriately titled Open Book.
She revealed that when she was a child, she got sexually abused by a girl that she had considered to be a family friend.
However, long before she made her experience public knowledge, Jessica Simpson personally confronted her abuser as well.
During her appearance on Katherine Schwarzenegger’s podcast, The Gift of Forgiveness, the singer revealed that she already had a discussion with that woman about 8 years ago.
‘I went to her and I just said, ‘I know you know what was going on and I know that you were being abused,’ because she was being abused by an older guy. He was always there at the house as well, so he never touched me, but he would abuse her and she would come to me and do the stuff to me and so, like in so many ways I felt bad for her and I was allowing the abuse to happen,’ she shared.
She went on to recall that ‘I told her at the moment, ‘I know that you have a lot to deal with,’ and I told her that she should probably talk to someone and find a way to understand those moments and to forgive those moments and to heal from those moments. I just want you to know that I forgive you and I don’t really care to be around you, but I want you to know I know what happened between us and I’m not gonna live in denial about it.’’
