Amanda Seales was fine as a temporary guest host on The Real but when it was announced that she was going to permanently take the seat of Tamar Braxton — fans of the Insecure actress wasn’t sure that she would be a good fit. While promoting her new book I Tried To Change So You Don’t, Loni Love addressed Amanda Seales quitting the show.

Amanda is very educated in African-American studies and has no problem explaining the deep-rooted effects of systemic racism and serious topics on subjects within the Black community.

However, although The Real does bring certain conversations to the table — Seales seemed to have to censor herself as to not disrupt the general flow of the lighthearted daytime talk show.

She recently explained to Hollywood Unlocked why she would be leaving: ‘I was on a show that on its core base is, ‘These are diverse women who are talking about things and keeping it real to a diverse audience.’ But in reality, it’s being run by a white woman who doesn’t have the connection to that experience and our topics are being picked by someone who doesn’t, our chat is produced by a white man who has a disconnect by simply his experience in the world from what we’re going to be addressing and we have executives all the way up that are all white women.’

Love explained on the Bevelations podcast that The Real isn’t a Black show — it’s a diverse show.

‘You have to remember the original purpose of The Real. The original purpose of The Real is that ‘The Real’ is not a Black show. It’s a diverse show. We need as many diverse voices as we can on air right now.’

While announcing her departure, Amanda made sure to tell fans that it had nothing to do with any of the women on the show — something that Loni appreciated since she took a lot of the heat when Tamar was fired.
